One deficiency of our district gradebook was that it took approximately two minutes to launch after a teacher logged in to a computer. There was no warning or message; just a long period of time where it seemed like nothing was happening. After about two minutes the gradebook would launch and a teacher could begin entering grades.
Craig Steinbruecker in the Educational Technology department has made a change to our computer log-in to speed things up. By changing the order of things that happen when a computer first starts up he found that the time could be greatly reduced. What used to take 120 seconds now takes approximately 10-45 seconds depending on the computer. We'll continue to work on this to get that time down even further.
Just one more way we're trying to make things better. Thanks Craig!
